Leisure

Whatever your interest or hobby, like-minded friends are not too far away. Socialising through hobbies is one of the many things that residents love about the Wimmera.

Gardening and Environment

If you are interested in gardening, nature and the environment, there are different ways to meet people who share your interest. Some groups get together to work on different areas, such as the Wimmera River Improvement Committee or Landcare. Some groups specialise in growing different sorts of plants The Wimmera Information Network will give you some more ideas on groups to join.

Handicrafts

Perhaps your skills and interest are in handicrafts. There are a range of craft clubs in the  Wimmera, from scrap-booking to quilt-making and many in between. The  Wimmera Information Network has a list of craft clubs. You may also find some good ideas to meet like-minded people by asking at your local craft supplies shop.

History

If you would like to learn more about the history of the Wimmera, or if you are simply interested in history, you may wish to become involved with one of the region’s historical societies. There are interesting museums in many of the smaller towns in the Wimmera which are run by volunteers and give a fascinating insight into the way people have lived from ancient times to now.

Libraries

The Wimmera Regional Library Corporation has branches right across the region offering free membership to all locals. Libraries offer books, DVDs and CDs to borrow, and all branches in the Wimmera have computers and internet access that you can use.
